Scare

WARNING: This entry is pretty long. Just thought I'd write a little update about recent events and life nowadays. Let's start with Friday, May 20.. That morning started out normal. I had trouble sleeping the night before because I was feeling super anxious. I was super excited about the ultrasound appointment we had scheduled for that morning. I got up a little earlier than I planned, showered and got ready. Since it felt like it was going to be a good day, I decided to run out and get some donuts for breakfast. Once Reece got home from work, we headed out for our appointment. Our ultrasound itself went pretty well. The ultrasound tech said that the baby looked normal and he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. He did notice something peculiar about me though. He took an extra measurement of my cervix because he thought that it looked a little short. After he took the second measurement and saw it was short, we had to wait in the waiting room while he called the ...

Why haven't I blogged about this yet?!

I can't believe I haven't put this up on here yet. Well... February 4, 2016-we found out that we are going to be adding to our family! I decided to take a home pregnancy test just to see. I ended up taking two tests at home (both positive) before calling the base hospital to get a blood test done. I felt pretty surprised. It just didn't feel real. Reece had come home that day pretty upset from work but once he saw the test, his mood did a complete 180. February 5, 2016- went to the hospital on base to get some blood drawn to get a confirmation of being pregnant. It took a couple hours but eventually, a nurse called to congratulate me and told me what my next steps were. Told Reece right after and he was getting pretty excited. The next day we went to Women's Health to start my chart and get some more labs done. My next appointment wasn't for another month or so. The most exciting part was the first ultrasound. I didn't cry like I thought I would. When we g...

Update.

Reece and I have been off the last two weeks. It's been quite nice to just be able to relax and not do any adulting. Since we're going back to work soon, I thought I'd write a bit about how life's been so far this year(: Last week, we celebrated our first year anniversary. Which is the reason why we took leave in the first place. We were originally going to spend a week in Seattle but I got nervous about putting our big baby (Sarg) in a pet boarding place. Only because he's getting older and I didn't want to stress him out too much if I didn't have too. So instead, we just went out to dinner. We ate at a steakhouse downtown called Sullivan's. It was pretty darn tasty. Reece said that it was the best steak he's ever had. Since paper is the traditional gift for first year wedding anniversaries, I got Reece a three slot picture frame and printed out google map images of three places-where we met, where we got married, and where we currently live. Tha...

Goodbye 2015, Hello 2016;

It is currently 9:07 pm here in Anchorage, AK. I thought I'd write a little bit since it's NYE(: This year was pretty interesting, full of changes. The biggest change being that I moved about 3,400 miles away from my parents. Yes I am aware that I am 25 (and in the military) haha but this is the farthest I've lived from my parents since coming out of the womb. Thank goodness for technology these days. I think I would be more of a mess and sad if I wasn't able to FaceTime with family as often as we do. I honestly do not remember anything I wanted to accomplish this year. But in 2016, I do have a couple goals in mind: get my CCAF,  get promoted (maybe, let's see how much studying I can get in before my test), get fitter/more active (I've recently lost almost 10 lbs. Gained some weight in the last couple months and decided to get serious and stop gaining unwanted weight haha), blog and take pictures more often, and to spend as much time with family (even if Fac...

Christmas 2015

Hello there! I cannot believe how close New Year's is already. It's insane, how fast this year has gone. Just felt like taking time to recap our first Christmas not only married, but (for me) away from family. Our Christmas was pretty good. Reece was home. We had red rice and ribs (which were marinated in the Borja secret recipe) for dinner. We opened up gifts as soon as Reece got home. I wish I had thought to take a picture of us with our gifts. But I'll just list was we all got(: Sarg got two DreamBones, a couple big bones, booties, and a stuffed elephant. Loki got two treat toys and more num nums, They seems to be so excited when we were opening up their gifts. Almost as if they knew exactly what was happening. Reece got a Harley Davidson calendar, a Husker's ornament, thick socks for the cold, Xbox Live, candy, a reusable ice pack, Jurassic Park shirt, undies, key finder, iWatch, Lego set (fire station), stress person, and "Oh Shit!" handles for his jeep...

Our First Christmas Tree!!

Hello! It's been quite awhile. Just sitting at home with the boys, so I thought I would do a little update! Reece has been working a different schedule lately, he isn't home for a couple days at a time. He's kinda getting a break from work work, so that's nice. But we do miss him here at the house =/ especially Sarg I think. He seems to be a little moodier when Reece isn't home. He even checks the mudroom after I come home. I think he checks for Reece, see if he's coming in. Poor puppy. Anywho, life hasn't been too bad here in Alaska. A couple weeks ago we got a good amount of snow. I was alone so I had to learn how to shovel the drive way. Which isn't as bad as I thought it would be. November 21, 2015 I think we got at least 3 inches in Anchorage. I heard the Valley (Wasilla and Palmer area) got about 9 inches that night. So crazy! At least to me since I've never lived in an area where it snows like this. I love the way the world looks whe...

Little Break.

Reece and I have been on leave for the past week. Decided to take a small break from work to just relax and get a couple things done around the house. It's been a nice break from work. Even though work isn't too hectic or anything crazy. I just finished a history class at UAA this past week. Grades aren't final yet, but last I checked, I am finishing with an A(: (go me!). My next class starts this coming Wednesday. Our Backyard (Sept 30, 2015) September 29-We had our first snowfall of the year. It started during the day but didn't start to stick until the sun went down. Sarg didn't seem to mind at all. I thought he wouldn't want to go outside when there's snow on the ground. When we woke up the next day, we woke up to a beautiful white blanket of snow. (see picture above) I want to say we got about 2 inches at least. It was wonderful! When Sarg went out the next morning for his morning business, he was just a little distracted and would bark at the snow...
