Reece and I have been on leave for the past week. Decided to take a small break from work to just relax and get a couple things done around the house. It's been a nice break from work. Even though work isn't too hectic or anything crazy. I just finished a history class at UAA this past week. Grades aren't final yet, but last I checked, I am finishing with an A(: (go me!). My next class starts this coming Wednesday.

Our Backyard (Sept 30, 2015) |
September 29-We had our first snowfall of the year. It started during the day but didn't start to stick until the sun went down. Sarg didn't seem to mind at all. I thought he wouldn't want to go outside when there's snow on the ground. When we woke up the next day, we woke up to a beautiful white blanket of snow. (see picture above) I want to say we got about 2 inches at least. It was wonderful! When Sarg went out the next morning for his morning business, he was just a little distracted and would bark at the snow that fell of the tree behind our house. The snow lasted until the weekend/next week. Didn't last too long.

MOOSE! |
During our week off, we haven't done much. We cleaned the carpet to get rid of Loki's little artwork he likes to leave around the house. Not too upsetting since I know he's just waiting for the right inspiration to make more.

Resurrection Bay//Seward (October 6, 2015) |
We did take a little trip down to Seward, AK. Definitely going to go again in the summer. Especially since it was pretty dead when we were there. We took a little break at Resurrection Bay. Just admiring the view. Right after I took those photos (above), a whale breached not too far from the rocky shore. I got so jealous because I missed it! Reece was talking to me and turned around, which made me turn around. I caught the tail end of the leap. All the little kids around us got so excited. We stayed a little while longer. Every once in awhile, you could see a little whale blow water through it's blowhole and then see it's tail as it dove back under. We didn't see any other whale jump out.
Fun Fact: Just looked up Resurrection Bay on Google, and found that gray whales are the common creature in this resting spot. Sightings more common during the spring/summer months. They migrate north from Mexico around March and hang out around here until it gets too cold.

Reece & I at Resurrection Bay(: |
Today we decided to check out Independence Mine, which is in Hatcher's Pass (Palmer, AK). It's now a state national park area. A good drive through some mountains and then about a mile walk up the road that leads you to the actual little old mining town.

Little Susitna River |
It was pretty cool, though I bet it's a lot better during the summer months when there isn't 10+ inches of snow on the ground. The road leading to the mining town was cleared, but not the trail that takes you through the town. For the most part we were walking on compacted snow from everyone else who decided to venture out there. Independence Mine is a little town, complete with original buildings. It was where miners lived/worked when mining was big in Alaska. I fell a couple times in the snow as I walked to some buildings to see inside the windows. Only thing that was missing, was Sarg. Once we got up to the buildings, we wished we had brought him to experience the snow. Next time. It was quite the adventure. Very beautiful.

Reece & an old engine |
All in all, we've had a wonderful week off. It's been nice to spend quality time together and have pretty much nothing to worry about. Last couple days we've been discussing plans for after the military and after Alaska. We'll see what happens. We have until January 2019 or so to made definite plans. I'm so excited to see what else life has in store for us(:

Mr & Mrs at Independence Mine |
Oh! And before I forget..hubby has been working on a little car project lately. He's turned his jeep into a Jurassic World jeep. Not a complete replica, but his own. Pretty awesome if you ask me.
