Joseph Paul//1 Month Update!

Our little prince has been home with us for 3 weeks now after spending his first 19 days of life in the NICU. In case you didn't know, he got transferred to the NICU after birth because he had a pheumothorax/air pockets outside his lungs. The NICU was full of ups and downs but we're so happy he's better and home.  Finally found some time to sit and do a 1 month update(:  A little late..but better late than never right?  Weight 9 lbs. 4 oz. Length 21.65 in/55 cm Clothes Size Newborn and 0-3 month. He’s almost too long for NB and 0-3 is a little big. Hair so much hair in the back, not as much on top. Light brown, sometimes looks like a dirty blonde in the sun. Eyes BLUE! Lighter than when he was born (it was a dark blue/grey). Still has some spots of the darker blue/grey but overall a lighter blue. Sleeping Started sleeping 5-6 hours after his midnight meal. Otherwise, he still sleeps for 2-3 hours or so at a time...

My Birthing Experience

Hello everyone(:  As you probably already know, our little prince has made his entrance two weeks ago now! Just thought I'd share the whole experience..so here we go! Thursday, October 6--We had our 39 week check up in the afternoon. The appointment started off like normal--got weighed (189 lbs!), blood pressure checked (good), and the usual questions (do you feel like harming yourself, have you felt regular baby movement, do you have any concerns, etc). Nurse came in and did her assessment. It got a little interesting when she measured my fundus and was getting 44cm (the week before it measured at 39cm). She got concerned that maybe I had too much fluid in my uterus since the difference between the two weeks was so much. To make sure things were ok, she went to call a doctor to have him measure my fluid levels with an ultrasound. As we were waiting, we were joking that maybe we'll have to get induced since my coworker's wife (who's due date was three days afte...

36 Weeks Already?!

Hey there. I can't believe we've made it to 36 weeks! It was also my first day back at work after being on bed rest/medical leave since the end of May. It didn't suck as much as I thought it would to go back to work. Thank goodness I still fit into my maternity uniform. I'm actually almost too big for it. I was relieved that I didn't get too big for them. I didn't think my belly would get as big as it has when I first bought them. Our check-up today went well. Doc said that I am good to keep going to work. So no more bed rest for me! We're still scheduled to get to get the stitch taken out next week. I'm very curious to as to how long after that I'll be pregnant. Reece thinks little one will grace us with his presence if not that day, sometime before the end of the week. I just can't wait to see what our little one looks like(: Joey has been a bit more active than usual today. I think it might've been the new/extra voices around him tod...

Virtual Baby Shower&&Joey's Nursery!

Hello(: As you know, we are currently stationed/living in Anchorage, AK. Super far from home, for both of us. As far as having a baby shower, I was going to have one here but opted out when I got put on bed rest. The idea just didn't seem as fun when I couldn't be too mobile and was still pretty much a couch potato (Dr's orders). But my lovely mother-in-law threw us a virtual baby shower! We skyped with family and friends and had a little baby shower that way. We got lots of gifts and it was so much fun! I can just imagine how fun it would've been if we were able to travel and have one in person with the ones we love. I felt super grateful afterwards for the gifts and for everyone who was there. So if you were there, THANK YOU AGAIN! Sadly, I only remembered to take one picture of the baby shower-the diaper cake made by Joey's Uncle Blake, Aunt Sam, and Aunt Jenny. Diaper Cake and Joey's Ultrasound Pic Joey's nursery is pretty much done. We painted...

30 Week Appointment Update

Hello everyone! Last week we had our last appointment with the Maternal Fetal Specialist at Alaska Native Medical. We got to see our little one for a little bit and then Doc checked the stitch. During the ultrasound, the ultrasound tech asked us what our due date was again. She had just measured the size of his belly and his head. I told her "October 10th". We were 30 weeks 4 days the day of our appointment. After I told her our due date, she told us that he's measuring 32 weeks and a couple days. She also told us he has a big belly (he probably has the Borja belly :] ) and hair! She also told us that he weighed 4 lbs 6 oz and that he's currently in the 80th percentile. Looking like he's going to be a big boy. It's not super surprising he's a bit bigger than average. If I remember right, at every ultrasound they measured his length he measured at least a week and a couple days bigger than what we were. Overall, our appointment went well. Doc said that ...

Hello Third Trimester!

Well we've made it to the third trimester! YAY! Honestly, when we first found out about the funneling and my shortened cervix, I didn't think we'd make it this far. I felt so sure that the NICU was in our future if I was able to get to 23 weeks. Thankfully, Baby Joey is still cooking like he should be and things feel good(:  28 Weeks//22 Weeks How far along? 28 weeks, 5 days. How big is peanut? According to my app, the size of a head of cauliflower. WHOA! (I plan on asking at our next appointment how big he is exactly) Total weight gain/loss? At my last check-up a couple weeks ago, I believe I weighed in at 165 lbs. Putting me at a total weight gain of about 10 lbs. As you can see in the pic above, I'm mostly belly. I honestly thought I was going to explode and get chubbier everywhere.  Maternity clothes? Yes and no. I have a couple maternity shirts I wear. But since I've been on bed rest, I usually wear sweats or pajamas and a few of my normal ...

Update & Baby Registries

Hello(: Quick Update: Early June, it seemed that my cervix started to shorten a little bit so I ended up getting a cerclage. For those who do not know what a cerclage is, it is a stitch that goes into the cervix to help keep it closed. My follow-up appointment after the surgery was well. Though I am still on bed rest until I'm 36 weeks (for now). I'm now 26 weeks and 5 days (almost in the third trimester, YAY!). So far, everything seems to be going well. Haven't had any weird pains and Baby Joey's still baking. Our next appointment with the specialist is in a couple weeks. Our little one's due date is about 3 months away. For anyone who is curious, we are currently registered at both Target and BabiesRus (registry number: 57998022). Only thing I didn't include is clothing and diapers. At least with clothing, since it's still pretty early and clothing gets switched out every once in awhile =P Well that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by..until nex...
